It was phenomenal, heartbreaking, and speechless…. This book is about the infatuation that transforms friendship into something deeper. It Ends With Us is a compulsive read with a heartbreaking and powerful story. The characters were so well drawn. This book makes you feel and understand the world through the eyes of someone whose beautiful love story turned into a holy terror. Colleen Hoover had written it so beautifully yet again.

One of my favorite line is- “There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things”

SPOILER ALERT There are countless thoughts swirling in my head, and I struggle to find the right words. I don’t cry often, but this book brought me to tears. The writing was so beautifully crafted that you find yourself not wanting to believe what you’ve read. I’m in a state of inner conflict, making excuses for what transpired.

Initially, I intended to keep this review spoiler-free, but it’s challenging to express my thoughts and feelings without touching on certain aspects. Even now, I find myself overthinking the book and experiencing its aftershocks. I adore books that challenge my beliefs, values, and opinions, and “It Ends With Us” is precisely that.

I had a deep affection for Ryle. While his actions were inexcusable, considering the psychological perspective, I couldn’t help but wonder about the inner turmoil he must have faced—someone who couldn’t control his actions and deeply regretted the consequences. However, I can’t truly grasp how I would feel or defend myself if I were in Lily’s position. Please don’t misunderstand me; Ryle wasn’t a bad person. He was profoundly flawed and damaged, unable to control his emotions, but his love for Lily was undeniable.

From the start, Ryle knew he wasn’t cut out for relationships and preferred one-night stands without any attachments. Their chemistry was enchanting initially, but then… bam! My heart shattered into pieces. However, in the end, the emotional rollercoaster was worth it.

OMG, Lily is such a strong, brave, and caring character. She’s an inspiration. After learning about the hardships Lily endured, I understand that “holding up your heart from forgiving someone whom you loved the most is actually damn difficult.” What Lily did was understandable, and it was worth it. Above all, I adored the connection between Lily and Atlas. Despite their troubled childhood and years of separation, they still cared for each other. The title “It Ends With Us” wasn’t what I expected, but it made complete sense in the end.

The aspect I love most about Colleen Hoover’s writing is how she constructs tragic yet realistic stories. She weaves beautiful and heart-wrenching tales that resonate deeply. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Favorite character:

Alyssa – Apart from Ryle and Lily, I truly adore Alyssa. She’s the kind of person everyone wishes to have as a best friend. Fun, loving, caring, and full of energy. When she named her daughter “Rylee,” I felt butterflies fluttering in my stomach. One of my favorite scenes involving Alyssa, which made me fall completely in love with her, was when she told Lily, “My brother loves you, Lily. He loves you so much. You have changed his entire life and made him someone I never thought he could be. As his sister, I wish more than anything for you to find a way to forgive him. But as a friend, I have to tell you that if you take him back, I will never speak to you again.”

Overall, “It Ends With Us” is a captivating contemporary romance that will leave you emotionally invested and pondering its themes long after you’ve turned the last page.
